Ah, spring. The time when a girl’s piles of fabric turn into skirts and dresses, and last year’s skirts and dresses turn into…new skirts and dresses.

I think that last summer’s favorite dress has become this spring’s favorite skirt.
Katy Perry toy soldier costume for Santacon. A triumph of crafts. Even if my ponytail is on the wrong side.
OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGOD.
This is what my roommates had waiting for me when I got home from Philly today.
Here are some things to know about this.
All those caps are necessary. They also sang me a song. It was “Happy birthday-and-congratulations-on-running-your-first-half-marathon to you.”

I finally put some stuff back up in my etsy store, just in time for the holidays! (well, really only in time for Christmas since tonight is the last night of Hanukkah.) I’ll probably have more stuff up in the next couple days (I have some big tote bags with the pinup girl appliques that I never took pictures of) but if you know of anyone who might want a new bag for Christmas, keep me and my ragtag little shop in mind :)
Step one: Gather your supplies.
Tshirt, freezer paper (it’s like wax paper, but only wax on one side), paints. If you want to use plain acrylic paint, get some textile medium to mix with it.
Step two: Print out your design on the non-wax side of the freezer paper.

Step three: Cut out the design and iron it onto your tshirt.

Step four: Paint! I did a layer of white first so the colors would be brighter.

Step five: Peel the freezer paper off the shirt.

If your paint/ink said to heat-set it, then do that. Then, wear your new shirt.
Voila!
5 years ago Thanksgiving flashback: making 41 tote bags for Fall Out Boy.
(in retrospect, I would like to say that I think the heart on the side is stupid now, and I could probably do these bags 10x better now than I did then. I wasn’t 100% psyched with the way they came out.)
I have way less ambitious craft plans this year.
Today was painfully hot at Warped. Painfully, like for about 2 hours I felt sick to my stomach and my heart was racing way faster than seemed normal, and no amount of water was helping.
In a moment of heat-induced panic I decided that my cropped jean-capris needed to be shorts, and tried cutting them off. Using my keys. (I’m crafty, I figured it would be super genius.) I got about halfway done with one leg when I started to get a blister on my finger. Fortunately, I was able to find a pair of scissors and finish the job.
This seems like something that some jerk sitting behind me would secretly film and put on youtube. If anyone comes across a video of me frantically sawing at the knees of my pants with the key to my apartment, send the link my way.
Bed tonight. Warped tomorrow. Hot again. Good times (tomorrow I will be more prepared).
